We all know what a Little French Jacket (LFJ) looks like, thanks to Chanel. Classic, chic and texture paradise. I’ve coveted many a Chanel jacket, but have never sat down to actually make one.
I’d love to attend a Susan Khalje couture course, but flying to Baltimore for a week is just not possible in my corner of Logistics Land, and probably won’t be for another couple of years yet. Enter the LFJ Sewalong, hosted by Leisa of A Challenging Sew and Inna of Thewallinna.
I’ve added my name to the list of wannabe participants. Anyone else up for the fun?
Just ran across your blog and saw your French Jacket post. I jumped on this wagon as well. I am in full planning mode with a toile already started. LOL. So excited about this one. I just hope I can stay the course and see it finished.

I would love to make one but I have ZERO time right now and i know i couldn’t commit to it properly, but I’m so glad you are doing this because I will be watching and learning along with you!! ^__^
yo ya me apuntado pero me vuelvo apuntar
Thanks for spreading the word about our sew-along! It is going to be a great adventure for both us (Leisa and me – since this is our first sew-along) and those crazy seamstresses who are kin to embark into this jacket journey 🙂

I think . . . .yes, I will sign up for it :-). Let the channel stitching begin :-)!
My goodness, thank you SO MUCH for alerting us to this sewalong! It sounds like it’s going to be heaps of fun and the fact that the host has taken that famous Khalje class several times is extremely appealing. Yippy yay!
I just wanted to send HUGE thanks for your lovely post on our sew along…..the sewing community is just so incredibly supportive and I am very thankful to be part of it 🙂
I’m really excited to see everyones ideas come to life.. Its going to be a whole lot of fun..

Oh, I wish I could! My mother gave me a gorgeous and very orange fabric that is just perfect for a french jacket, but september is a bad,bad month for me to engage on a sew-along…I´ll be watching, though! Good luck
Too advanced for me and I don’t think a Drench style jacket would suit my body shape either, but I’m curious to see how it is done. So I’ll be following this sewing with interest.
*French style jacket.
I’ve been following Leisa’s excursions through Marfy for a while now and just marvel at her fabrics and sewing room – yes just simply envy! I’ve made four Chanels so far – how many do you think is too many? Might be tempted though…..You will love yours!
ok im in
This is such a kewl sewalong especially since Susan Khalje is going to be answering questions about construction. I’m sure you will make an awesome french jacket!
Awesome! The few LFJ’s that I’ve seen in person have been gorgeous and amazing (seriously, Marina’s was a work of art! ). I can’t wait to see yours!
